The cliffs of Los Gigantes are enormous rock walls that rise to a height of more than 600 metres. They are of volcanic origin and are located in the Teno Rural Park on the west coast of Tenerife. They are distributed between the municipalities of Santiago del Teide and Buenavista del Norte.

They are in an area of great natural beauty where you can enjoy great experiences. The cliffs can be seen from the sea and the beach, from the air during an aerial tour and from the interior of Tenerife from different viewpoints with different perspectives. Under the sea, divers can also see them at depths of up to 30 metres.

The Guanches called them the “Devil’s Wall” because of their immense size.

Los Guíos Beach

The nearest beach is called “Playa de los Guíos”. From there you can see them freely and without buildings in the way. It is a small blue flag beach that offers everything the bather needs to enjoy the beach: lifeguards, security and beach bars.

It offers one of the most emblematic landscapes of the island, combining volcanic sand with crystal clear waters protected by immense rock walls. Here you will find the opportunity to go scuba diving and enjoy the natural beauty of the cliffs under the sea. Another option available to you is to hire a boat to go out and explore the waters of the Mediterranean and see some cetaceans in their natural habitat.

Vistas de Los Gigantes viewpoint

This is the closest viewpoint to the beach, it is very high, you can climb it on foot, but you must be in good physical shape. It has steep zigzagging stairs, benches to sit on and plenty of shade.

Teno Lighthouse

You can access this lighthouse from Punta de Teno, it is located in a magical place from where you can get magnificent views. The lighthouse is currently uninhabited because it works automatically. Being in this place makes you wonder how some families could live there for so long, isolated from civilisation and in such a wild environment. This is a setting for dreamers and sensitive souls who find beauty everywhere.

Descent of the Barranco de Masca

This is a fabulous idea for hiking enthusiasts. It is a complicated and challenging route, put on your mountaineering boots and get ready for adventure. It’s an average 4 hour hike along 5 km of ravine. Only suitable for people with adequate physical preparation. This is a path chosen by many to reach the Bay of Masca, a charming and little-known beach where you can take a well-deserved swim after the descent.
